The Islamic Culture

 Introduction

 

The word culture in Arabic is uruf (عروف) which means something that is known of or adat (عادة) which means something that always been committed. Since Islam is a religion that is being revealed to the prophet, the things that are being practiced by the present Arab and the past is different.



It must be understand that the religion of Islam is not only meant for the Arab rather than to the whole humanity. It is said in the Al-Quran:

 

 

و ما أرسلناك الا رحمة للعالمين

 

 

Translation : We did not sent you (Mohamad) except as a mercy to the whole universe.


The Identity of Islam.

 

The Arabic clothes and beard are the minor parts of the Islamic identity. If we study the old scholars book, we will not find the propagation towards the Arabic culture whether their food,clothes and others.The things that the prophet do but not ordered the Muslim is considered as the lowest parts of the recommended acts.

The real culture of Islam is learning and practicing knowledge about the oneness of God and its commandment. This is way more important than applying the Islamic dresses. The 23 years revealation process is never about imitating the clothes of prophet.

Among the uniqueness of the identity of Islam lies in both its acts of worships and how it tolerates with the worldly things. The daily five times a day prayer and fasting during Ramadhan is one of the example of acts that are committed by the Muslim throughout the world regardless tribes and ranks. This is the symbols that the Muslim submits themselves to their creator.


Conclusion

 

The values that the religion brought are more than wearing the Arabic clothes and keeping the beard.It is more to practice the things that being recommended from it in many aspects of life.

It is more like having the right philosophy to be adopted with some strong reasons. This should be the main thing that a Muslim should posses. However, we can say that it is quite challanging in learning practicing this understanding because the world nowadays is otherwise.

In whatever efforts are being made to improve the condition of the Muslim, we must bear in mind that everything happened are in the will of God. There are nothing that occurred are not based on his will. This is the real strength of Islam where they submit everything to their God. The word that explained this condition is tawakkal (توكل).

  Pengenalan       Perlu diketahui bahawa manusia itu terbahagi kepada dua bahagian yang tidak dapat dilihat dengan mata kasar, iaitu akal dan ruh. Tanggapan Islam Terhadap Kemodenan

  Pengenalan     Perlu diketahui bahawa Islam adalah agama yang membuka seluas luasnya kepada pengikutnya untuk beramal. Ini termasuk di dalam hukum hakam yang digariskan oleh ulama. Hanya terdapat sedikit perkara yang wajib dan begitu juga yang haram. Yang lain semuanya bersifat harus. Akan tetapi, ramai di antara penganutnya yang tidak faham hukum hakam ini sehingga ada yang mengatakan Islam agama yang jumud.
