Knowledge From The Prespective Of Islam

 Introduction

Islam is a monotheistic religion that follows the path of Prophet Mohammad. It also acknowledges the presence of the previous prophets such as Moses,David,Abraham and others.

One of the unique characteristic of this religion is that it provides its own guideline for the culture to follow rather than keeps on changing. This is why the theorritical and practical knowledges are still relevant until present times. The Muslim pray and fast just like the prophet did.

However, this does not mean that the religion totally rejects the norms or culture at a certain places. In fact, there is one principle in jurisprudence that says :

العادة محكم

Knowledge Is A Part of Human Nature

Human needs knowledge in order to perform something. Usually, an act without aduquate knowledge will leads to loss, waste of time and inefficiency. The worldly sciences that we can see today are usually gained by several methods such as surveys, trial and error, experience and others.

Thus, when Islam make it cumpulsory for seeking knowledge, it does not go against the human nature. The prophet mentioned :

طلب العلم فريضة على كل مسلم

Translation : Seeking knowledge is compulsory for every Muslim.

Islam Divides The Knowledge Into Two Parts Outer And Inner

Human that we can see today consists of two parts, body and soul. There are several places in the religion mentioned about the souls among them is in the Al-Quran

يسئلونك عن الروح  قل هو من أمر ربي

Translation : They asked you about souls, say (Mohamad) it is under the supervision of my god.

The soul will have different approaches when dealing with them. Unlike the outer or physical part, it needs constant remembrance of God. This part also known as ihsan. It is the third pillar of Islam.

Conclusion

In general, there are quite a huge differences between the perspective of knowledge of Islam and other philosophy. The culture that are born from a strong Islamic influences tends to save the Muslim minds and prespective on something. This is why the preservations of some previous culture is important because a lot of them begets from the Islamic understanding.

Since the secularism has rooted deep enough in the Muslim countries, a slow and strong approaches need to be taken by the scholars and rulers in order for the benefits of the  Muslim. It is highly doubt that Islam might have hard times in the future to be spread, practice and preached, since the its implementation doesn’t began nationally at the early stage.
